Dean’s Corner
Dearest colleagues,
We are headed into a second year with a new board of officers. We have been working hard to provide a rich and varied program which is servicing communities on both sides of the hood canal bridge. However, our membership numbers are not growing and we are reaching a critical decision on whether we want to stay a chapter. This is why we are calling for an all out effort to invite people to events and recruit new members. Our goals include establishing scholarship funding and an extant program to transition pianists to organists and encourage people to learn the art of organ playing. I am asking you to take action. You can do so by inviting keyboardists to provide their contact info to us, asking your parishioners to join the guild, inviting individuals to our chapter events, and by volunteering to help the guild in whatever capacity you can-maybe consider taking on the role of Membership Chair!
This is our opportunity to grow our guild and bring the level of professionalism and skill on the peninsula to new heights. Another result we are hoping for is redoubled camaraderie and community amongst organists. If you feel roused to do something, don’t stop yourself!
Please take out your calendar to mark these upcoming events.
Further details found in the Spring 2023 edition of The Coupler

-On June 10th, there will be a fabulous organ crawl organized by Dennis Northway of the Olympia Chapter-please RSVP to Dennis if you are interested.
-Mark your calendars for June 16th at 7pm, internationally renowned organist Manuel Piazza will be giving a concert at Holy Trinity Lutheran in Port Angeles.
-Please reserve the date for the Annual Picnic on June 23rd at 5pm (Location TBD). I look forward to seeing you all there.
On a personal note, I recently had surgery on my right hand, and so have been unable to use it. Regardless of this blip, I have had an incredible growth opportunity with my instructor Noah to develop my left hand and pedal technique. I wanted to use this story as encouragement to every person to continue to practice and strive for higher standards regardless of what circumstance or time constraint that you have placed on you. Keep practicing!
Yours deanly,
Terry
